A UK school banned the parents of its pupils from wearing pajamas, bathing suits, or sleepwear when taking their children to school.
The warning was made on the Facebook page of Ayresome Elementary in Middlesbrough, England, but despite being warned to “dress appropriately”
When dropping off and picking up their children, some still continued to wear nightwear upon arrival. to school.
The photos were shared by British news portals such as The Sun and The Daily Mail, and they show a mother in pajamas and a light gray hooded robe arriving with her son at school. Also a father in a robe and dark slippers doing the same.
Other parents arrived in pajama bottoms and some wear slippers and crocs instead of shoes.
The publication shared by the elementary school went viral on social networks and aroused many comments for and against the dress guidelines imposed by the school.
“Please, can we ask that all parents/caregivers dress appropriately when dropping off and picking up children from school?” The gowns in the schoolyard are not appropriate, ”read the Facebook message posted last Friday.
Some parents criticized others who opted for the comfort of their gowns to take their children to school, calling this an act “shameful.”
“I am absolutely sick of this. It is not difficult to get dressed in the morning. Imagine how much those kids are going to be ridiculed when training school.
They don’t even wear a new pair to come to pick them up. A lot of the parents don’t like it, ”an annoyed parent told an English outlet that covered the news.
Another parent commented, “Moms shouldn’t come to school in their pajamas. They are nightwear for a reason, so why would you go out with them during the day? The children will think it is acceptable and will start to repeat it ”.
But some Facebook users didn’t think the new dress code was important and said “who cares.”
“Why is everyone judging each other so much? I mean I don’t and I wouldn’t, but it’s cold, if they want to put on a robe, leave it to them, ” wrote one user.
“They may have had a bad morning or are struggling with their mental health or just want to go back to bed when they get home. Big deal, ” said another.
Many parents considered the measure imposed by the school as “absurd” as no one should be judged by their way of dressing. However, the first one reaffirms that it is part of the school’s codes of conduct that parents should also follow.
“We have recently seen an increase in the number of parents wearing gowns when dropping off and picking up their children from school.
This prompted me to send the courteous reminder to parents to wear appropriate clothing when accompanying their children to school and vice versa, ” said Charlotte Haylock, executive director of Ayresome Elementary School.
“As a school, we encourage our children to dress appropriately at all times and we believe it is important for parents to do the same.
If parents are concerned about any issue affecting their children’s education, my door is always open if they need to seek advice and support, ”he added.
